The New Inn

The New Inn, in the picturesque village of Shipton Gorge, is a community managed pub.  It is now run by our landlady Andrea, and she and her team, offer all customers a very warm welcome.

When the pub faced closure by the brewery in 2005, Shipton Gorge’s residents reached an agreement with Palmers to take on the lease of the pub. The New Inn successfully re-opened in 2006 when the village locals came together to support their much-loved pub and keep it open as the hub of the village and their community.

We are a family and dog friendly country pub, that specialises in traditional pub food and quality beverages, using local produce and suppliers with a selection of home-made starters, mains and desserts available. 

Our ‘Secret Garden’ is the perfect place to relax on those warmer days with a pint of real Palmers cask ale, a chilled glass of wine from our wine selection or perhaps a soft drink. In the winter, why not relax by our log burner in the bar with a cup of coffee and a slice of home-made cake.

Our two ensuite bedrooms, with king sized beds and offered on a bed and breakfast basis, are the perfect place to stay to take advantage of the great walking country in the rolling Dorset hills and explore the world-famous Jurassic coast just a mile and a half away.
