Unfortunately, buses do not connect with the village but there are two nearby buses.
The nearest bus stop is for the X51 bus which is about a half mile away on the A35. Regular buses travel to Bridport and / or Dorchester.
To the South the nearest bus stop is in Burton Bradstock which is about a 1.5 mile walk away. The bus from Burton Bradstock is either the X 52 or X53 which travels either along the coast to Weymouth or towards Bridport and then onto Axminster.
Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock is 1.5 miles away, and Bridport is 3 miles away.
West Bay, famous for Broadchurch is approximately 4 miles away.
Yes, for visiting the pub. Our toilets are accessed through a narrow passageway.
Both our rooms are up a flight of stairs and on the first floor. There is no lift.
Both cash or credit card payments are accepted.
Yes, the pub has parking spaces for 6 cars. The car park however is relatively tight and not suitable for larger vehicles which may be parked on the quiet road outside the pub.
Yes, well behaved dogs are more than welcome to join you whilst you stay or drink or dine with us. Dogs can stay for an additional £10 / room / night. Additionally our landlady Andrea will often have dog treats available for your furry friends! If you are booking a table please let us know in the notes that you are bringing your pet with you and we will do our best to allocate space for them. We politely ask that they are kept on a lead and off the furniture. It is common for us to have several dogs in the pub so less sociable pets may be best left at home.
Yes, great walking is available from our doorstep. We are approximately 1.5 miles away from Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock, where you can join the South West Coast Path. There are footpaths and bridleways that take you into Bridport, or across the rolling Dorset hills, or maybe a shorter, more local walk to Shipton Hill for a fantastic view might appeal.
View our location section for recommended walks.

Joey2025-01-18HIGHLY RECOMMEND Great service, lovely pub with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Food was absolutely superb, generously portioned and well priced. I would recommend the steak pie and nut roast as that is what we had and it was delicious!Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.

Julie Hobbs2024-09-21What a find! So glad we decided to go off the beaten track. We were warmly greeted by a lovely lady and a young lad behind the bar (sorry we didn’t get your names!). We had the fish pie and steak and ale pie with red wine. Could not fault it! Absolutely superb food, clearly home made and not out of the freezer! With the mains to such a high standard, we decided to go for a pudding too, although we were both full from the very generous mains portions. We had sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fudge brownie, both with ice-cream. Again, outstanding quality! We can’t recommend The New Inn highly enough. Good car park and dog friendly.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.

Andrea Webber2024-08-15After a particularly bad Friday afternoon journey we arrived at The New Inn to be greeted by Andrea, the friendly and welcoming manager. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. We were shown to our ensuite bedroom and after depositing our luggage we were offered a welcome drink which we enoyed sitting on the terrace overlooking stunning views over the hills. We enjoyed dinner at the New Inn on Friday evening, both the homemade fish pie and steak and ale pie were delicious. Bedrooms are clean and have everthing you need for a short stay, the bed was comfy and breakfast was excellent, plenty of choices available made with fresh produce. Despite the pub being busy with a local event we were made to feel welcome and included in the celebrations. All in all a lovely stay with excellent food and great staff - thank youTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
